Innovation Week 2020 – Connect, Create, Innovate!
It’s that time of year again. Join us online for our second public service-wide #InnovationWeek, taking place 19th to 23rd October. The Public Service Innovation Team has curated a jam-packed programme of online events including keynote speakers, panel discussions, the unveiling of new public service innovation scorecard and a hackathon to explore some of the public service challenges faced by many of our organisations.
Innovation Week will be opened by Secretary General Robert Watt at 11am on Monday 19th October. The Secretary General will be followed by Professor Pete Lunn, whose keynote address focusses on lessons from Covid-19 and using Behavioural Science in the Public Service.
Some of our highlights include the session on Monday which will be moderated by Dr Lucy Fallon Byrne on the soon-to-be launched Innovation Strategy and toolkit for public service organisations.
On Tuesday, Vinny Lanigan will discuss Covid innovations and Grace O’Regan will moderate a panel discussion on the importance of strategic foresight for developing policy with a fantastic panel including Chief Information Officer Barry Lowry.
On Thursday Laura Mahoney and a panel of experts will explain Blockchain to us all. On Friday, Philip McGrath will accelerate his plan for the robots to take over. Later that day Breda O’Brien will moderate a session focused on a project supported by the Innovation Fund to develop an Innovation Scorecard for organisations.
A particular highlight is a session moderated by our Secretary General on Friday 23rd with some of our Public Service Leaders who will discuss their experiences of leading through the crisis.
Public service organisations around the country will also be hosting their own talks and events to promote innovation in their organisations.
