Learning and Development
The context within which we, as public servants, operate is increasingly complex and challenging. Fast-paced technological disruption, the proliferation of data, the changing way of work, customer and employee expectations, geopolitical shifts, changing demographic patterns and other external factors are all shaping our economy and society. The Public Service needs to be strategically placed to respond to challenges in the short, medium and long term.
The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform is pleased to announce a two-day ‘Essentials of Innovation’ programme. The programme is intended to support new ways of thinking about the delivery and design of services to the Irish public. The Department will be running this programme on five separate occasions over the coming months. The Department will be subsidising the cost to participating public service organisations.
This programme is recommended for public servants at middle and senior management level who wish to develop their knowledge and create an innovative work environment.
The programme will be facilitated by specialists in leadership and innovation from the Institute of Public Administration. The format will vary according to the topic and will include current examples, visiting speakers and cross-sectoral participation.
The application form, which can be downloaded from here, should be completed and submitted to OPSlearning@per.gov.ie.
Places will generally be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis from participants at the appropriate level. However, the Department will have regard to the need for sectoral spread at the programme.
